Dear Trellis Desk,

the software package does not work properly when MySQL strict mode is activated. This option is enabled by default.

It seems like you're missing a lot of intval(expression) at your DB updates. Unfortunality, it it widespread in your code so fixing it will be a time consuming (read boring) job.

This bug is reproducable by enabling strict mode on the MySQL server.

For instance, you've checkboxes that return 1 or nothing.

The software inserts are like 'email_staff_new_ticket' => $this->ifthd->inputemail_staff_new_ticket?,

This works fine if it has input. But returns nothing if the box is not checked. The MySQL databases requires an integer.

Solution to all these problems is using the intval function.

So putting in the intval function like below, fixes all these type of problems 'email_staff_new_ticket' => intval($this->ifthd->inputemail_staff_new_ticket?),

I had a user here point out she'd sent an email to our helpdesk as a CC on another email she was sending out, but we never received it. I tested this out in two different scenarios and it turns out she was right, CC'd messages do not get received by Trellis. Additionally I went to the mailbox of our "ithelpdesk" address (the piped one) and the emails in question were definitely there.

So, it seems like the email pipe doesn't receive emails which are CC'd to the pipe address? I need a way to make that work ASAP as we've already been telling people to open tickets this way (via CC on another email). Thoughts?

I have been able to use mail piping with Postfix by changing the /etc/alias file to something like this :

This work like a char but. Here we are french people (who like accentued letters) using the good Roudcube Webmail system.

And unfortunatly Trellis Desk did not like very well accentued letters, particulary in the "message part". After a change in pipe.php from :

This seems to work now like a charm exept for the automatic replied messages. In this automatic messages accentued leters are changed in html entities like &eacute; an so on witch just render like "&eacute;" and not "é" even if asked to display messages in html in Roundcube config. (I have the same behaviour with gmail)

There may be a bad beahviour in mod_email.php file

A ticket will not become unassigned if it is closed via the "Manage Tickets" page. If it is closed from that window then it must be found and unassigned manually.

When requestor replies directly through email, the reply is added correctly to existing ticket. But when admin or staff replies directly through email, a new ticket is created.

Email-addresses for admin and staff are recognized by system as registered. It doesn't matter whether ticket is assigned to staff or not.

The system is open for guest-tickets.

We would like to require the user to think about the selection they make when entering data into a custom drop down field, but these fields always seem to start out with the first option preselected. This makes the "required" option meaningless for drop down fields.

It would be very nice if there were some way to make these boxes start out empty by default so that the user had to expand the list and select something before submitting the ticket. Otherwise it is easy for them to forget to check the box and submit the ticket without looking at it.

It would be great for Trellis to display “real language” timestamps instead of dates and times.

For example, it is more useful to see something like “1 hour ago” as the last response timestamp or when the ticket was submitted, instead of a date/time timestamp.

(If it was more then 24 hours, then show something like “1 day ago”, etc…)

The idea here is that seeing the number of hours or days in “normal language” is much easier for staff and customers then seeing a date/time timestamp and then having to calculate how long it’s been, etc…

In other words, it’s more “usable” to show something like “1 hour ago” or “5 days ago” then a bunch of numbers.

Of course, admin should be able to enable/disable this feature if desired. (Although I suspect most people would prefer it this way since it makes more sense in a helpdesk software to show in “hours” or “days” the various times.) Perhaps make it show hours or days, but then have a rollover popup show the actual timestamp?

Use URL rewriting to allow knowledgebase URLs to be rewritten so they look better (and work better in search engines).

For example, when currently linking directly to a KB article, the URL looks something like this:

http://www.domain.com/support/index.php?act=article&code=view&id=1

It would be better if it could look like this:

http://www.domain.com/support/kb/Article-Subject-Here/

The search engines will eat that kind of URL up for lunch, and love will be spread around everywhere.

Plus, it just looks better when we have need for direct linking from our website or in a ticket response, etc.

We had a trouble using trallis with other e-mail encodings in multypart and plain messages decoding (for ex. russian characters, encoded with UTF-8, cp1251 or KOI8-R). /sources/pop3.php have no character set support at all. I wrote a little patch that works for 90% of e-mails. I hope, it'll help somebody.

Before this patch we had wrongly-encoded subjects and bodyes in tickets and in notification e-mails. we are using UTF-8 buy default in our systems.

We sometimes need to contact customers and we really want them to correspond with us through the support system. Right now, we have been submitting tickets on their behalf and getting them to contact us that way.

What would be really great is if we could create a ticket on their behalf, but the email that goes out is more of a request for correspondence, than the email that goes out saying "Thank you for making a new ticket..."

Instead of receiving the error "Sorry, you do not have access to this area." Hide the links & settings / options in the admin panel if you don't have access to use it..

I have a member group that ONLY deals with tickets and users and has no other access to anything else on the admin cp yet they have tons of options still visible that they can try to get to and will just keep receiving the no access error.

I'm wondering if this is possible as it would make it look a whole lot better to users that don't have access to the options, limiting them to see only what they can actually use.

I FTPd the contents of the Upload folder to a subdirectory on my server.

After the installation, I had to manually set the $confighd_url? variable within the config.php (for which I found ZERO mention in any documentation) in order for paths to work correctly.

I note the example given in the Readme suggests you upload it to the root directory, but that's obviously not going to happen always. Might be worth the installer checking the path, if it can't automatically work it out by itself.

Actually is possible to associate an user with only one mail adress.

In house we have give multiple virtual mail adresses to our users like :

  • user@…
  • some.user@…
  • s.user@…

His the user who choice whitch is his prefered outgoing adress but all of them are aliased with only one mailbox.

Can it be possible to add more than one adress connected to an user ?

Actualy if i tell to Trellis Desk than Some user have user@… mail but if he use instead some.user@… the ticket will belong to guest. (This actualy force me to accept guest tickets)

This feature can also usefull to connect to one user the professionl adress and a personal one.

An option to archive tickets to an archival database would help keep the main operating database small as well as clean up user's screens (do they really need to see a ticket they submitted two years ago?)

Especially useful for those of us who are using one u:p for each company we deal with. Tickets can add up pretty fast.

I just started testing on my local server (Windows 7 on Zend Server CE - PHP 5.3.0 and MySQL 5.1.40) and when I try to add department I get the following error: 1364: Field "tickets_total" doesn"t have a default value in E:\Zend\Apache2\htdocs\helpdesk_2\includes\classes\class_mysql.php on line 91

Most of the production server have strict mode on, so it may be good idea to change this (al least for sake of better data consistency).
