A720: Wrong auto ISO multiplier factor

Reported by: mtutak@… Owned by:
Priority: major Keywords: autoiso

Description

In PS A720 auto ISO values are set in 1/16 values not in 1/10 like menu says. So for ISO50 you should set 3 (not default 5), and for ISO 640 set 40 not 64 (and so on).

Good solution is to display/configure auto ISO values in pure ISO without multiplier (10 or 16).

What type of ISO value do you bear in mind? There is some difference between so- called 'real' ISO and so-called 'market' ISO. When you set ISO via CHDK you are operating with 'real' ISO

Every "real" ISO value is 1.6 times lower than displayed? The difference is 1.6 on every ISO speed...

When I set low auto ISO speed to default 5 (ISO 50), the camera sets lowest ISO 80, when I change 5 to 3, lowest ISO return to 50 value...

The Factor of correlation between 'real' and 'market' ISO depends on camera model. Usually it is a fixed shift. Additionaly you need to know that not all range of accessible ISO values can be set on particular camera. I think that minimal possible ISO for a720 is 50 in 'real' scale (80 in 'market' scale)
